Armed police storm Glasgow street as two people charged and man in hospital

A man and woman have been arrested and charged following a disturbance which sparked an armed response on a Glasgow street. Multiple police units raced to Ballantay Road in Castlemilk at around 1.40pm on Friday. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and a 53-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment . Eyewitnesses told how around half a dozen police vehicles descended on the street. Pictures from the scene show uniformed officers and specialist gun cops responding to the incident as the area was sealed off. Armed officers were spotted in surrounding gardens. Other images show police tape stretched across the residential street as horrified locals watched on. Police Scotland confirmed to the Record a 40-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal while officers’ enquiries continue. A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called to a report of a disturbance on Ballantay Road, Castlemilk, around 1.40pm on Friday, 19 September, 2025. “Emergency services attended, and a 53-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. “A 40-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man have been arrested and charged in connection, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. “Enquiries are ongoing.”
