Fight or Flight: Josh Hartnett's Action Comedy Soars on Streaming Charts

Fight or Flight is soaring on the streaming charts. Directed by James Madigan in his feature debut, with a script written by Brooks McLaren and D.J. Cotrona, the 2025 action comedy stars Josh Hartnett as a mercenary who is recruited to identify and protect a wanted criminal aboard a commercial flight while surrounded by passengers trying to kill them both.
The cast also includes Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, The Mandalorian), Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone), Marko Zaror, JuJu Chan Szeto, Danny Ashok, Hughie O’Donnell, Jyuddah Jaymes, Willem van der Vegt, Sanjeev Kohli, Declan Baxter, Sarah Lam, Irén Bordán, Nóra Trokán, Heather Choo, and Claudia Heinz.
Now, five months after its release, Fight or Flight ranks second on the Top 10 movies on Paramount+ in the United States for today, October 2. It ranks below only The Naked Gun (2025) and above Stans, Step Brothers, Top Gun: Maverick, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, Sleepy Hollow, The Longest Yard, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and Scream (1996).
What Fight Or Flight’s Streaming Success Means For The Movie
Fight or Flight flew under the radar when it was released in theaters this past May, earning only $2 million from 2,153 theaters during its opening weekend, finishing seventh at the box office. It went on to make $4.3 million during its theatrical run, a small fraction of its production budget, which is reported to be approximately $30 million.
However, the film’s underperformance at the box office wasn’t due to a lack of quality. Fight or Flight reviews praised Josh Hartnett’s all-in performance (who did all his own stunts), calling it a quirky-action comedy that soars at an enjoyable pace and stays fun without overstaying its welcome.
These positive reviews resulted in a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, coupled with a 75% audience score, who also consider it unhinged and irresistible entertainment. Following Fight or Flight’s release on Paramount+ on October 1, it’s already a streaming hit the next day.
Our Take On Fight Or Flight’s Streaming Success
Josh Hartnett’s return to the spotlight with Fight or Flight feels like a rewarding moment for him and longtime fans who have followed his career since the late 1990s. Hartnett was once a beloved teen idol, headlining Halloween H20 (1998) and The Virgin Suicides (1999) before starring in Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down (both 2001) in his early 20s.
However, Hartnett stepped away from mainstream Hollywood for what felt like forever, but, in recent years, he has had a career resurgence with his supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer (2023) and a starring role as a serial killer in M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap (2024), recapturing the charisma that made him a star in the first place.
