Law enforcement officers are actively pursuing an investigation into a brutal triple murder that recently occurred in the southern community, underscoring a troubling pattern of gun violence in the area over the past weeks.
In addition, police have confirmed the discovery of several bodies in the vicinity of the crime scene. Two of the remains have been positively identified, while the other bodies remain unidentified.
According to police reports, on September 16 at approximately 10:25 p.m., the southern police branch dispatched investigators to Canelles, Vieux-Fort, following reports of gunfire. Members of the Tactical Response Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department were also deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, investigators found a female and two males lying motionless, all showing clear signs of gunshot wounds. Medical personnel confirmed the three individuals were dead at the scene.
The following day, September 17, at around 12:00 noon, further investigations led to the discovery of what appeared to be human remains near the initial crime scene.
Two of the deceased have been identified: twenty-four-year-old Faith Tonia Griffin from Karibelle Development, La Clery, Castries, and thirty-year-old Christopher Dominique of Chase Gardens, Castries. The identities of the remaining victims have yet to be determined.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) urges anyone with information regarding these homicides to contact the Vieux-Fort Police Station at 456-3906. The Crime Hotline (555) and the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force Crime Hotline App are also available for anonymous reporting.
The RSLPF extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased individuals. An RSLPF spokesperson stated, “It is our intention, alongside community and agency partners, to visit the families and loved ones of the deceased to offer psychosocial support. This aims to help them cope with their tragic loss and prevent any potential retaliatory actions. The psychosocial support systems approach, utilized after the La Tourney homicides on September 12, proved beneficial in managing community trauma.”
The RSLPF adds, “We appreciate the families of Rebelto Nelson of La Tourney Vieux-Fort and Travis Charles of Desruisseaux, Micoud, for their warm reception during our visit. We also thank our community and agency partners for their support in this endeavor. The Community Policing Unit of the Southern Division played a crucial role in the success of this initiative. Progress has been made in the investigations regarding the homicides of Rebelto Nelson and Travis Charles.” Additionally, police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred at Corinth, Gros Islet, on September 16. On that evening, investigators responded to a stabbing report that took place around 6:30 p.m., involving 21-year-old Lershawn Touissant from Trouya, Gros Islet.
Investigators later visited the Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEU) and learned that Touissant sustained serious injuries from a stab wound to the abdomen. He is currently recovering in stable condition. Alvin Serieux, who sustained less serious injuries, was treated and discharged.
Serieux reported that while with Lershawn Touissant’s father, Lershawn requested assistance for transport from the area after facing an attack by a group of men.
In Corinth, they encountered a hostile mob, which attacked Lershawn as he attempted to reach his father’s vehicle. Both Touissant and Serieux were injured during the assault, and one vehicle sustained damage.
Later that night, police apprehended one male suspect in connection with the incident.
Additionally, on Thursday, about 4:40 p.m. officers of the Criminal Investigations Department visited the scene of a crime committed at L’ Abbayee, Bexon.
The aftermath of another gun violence act, resulted in the death of Reo Maximin, 24 of L’ Abbayee, Bexon.
At the scene, the officers observed two victims with apparent gunshot wounds to the body, who were being treated by personnel of the Saint Lucia Fire Service. They were later transported to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU) via ambulance; however , one victim later succumbed and was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
