N.Y. Lottery: Winner claims $3M in Money Match scratch-off game, takes lump sum payment; here’s how much he got

A Central New York man made the purchase of a lifetime, winning the top prize in the New York Lottery’s Money Match scratch-off game, lottery officials announced.
John Thomson of Kirkville, in Onondaga County, claimed the $3 million prize and opted to receive a one-time lump sum payment totaling $1,295,493, after required withholdings, according to officials.
The winning ticket was purchased at Wegmans, located at 4979 West Taft Road in Liverpool.
Liverpool is located in Onondaga County, just five miles northeast of Syracuse.
As of this writing, one top prize remains on the Money Match scratch-off game.
Valid lower-tier prizes may be claimed until their respective expiration dates. Players can check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off game by downloading the Game Report at nylottery.ny.gov.
