Former Indy and NASCAR racer Danica Patrick is roasting the NFL for choosing Puerto Rico-born rapper Bad Bunny as the halftime performer for Super Bowl 2026, the New York Post reported.
“Oh fun,” Patrick wrote on X, commenting on another post about the rapper. “No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest rated television events of the year … not just for sports.”
Patrick, who campaigned for President Donald Trump last year, also re-posted a claim that Bad Bunny was a “demonic Marxist” and was being given the Super Bowl 2026 halftime slot, one of the most high-profile platforms in American culture.
NFL executive Jon Barker defended the choice of Bad Bunny as the halftime performer.
“Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene,” Barker said. “As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage. We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”
“This is for my people, my culture, and our history,” Bad Bunny said after being given the prestigious Super Bowl slot.
Bad Bunny had previously cancelled shows in the U.S. out of fear that the concerts would be targeted by ICE agents.
“But there was the issue of — like, f‑‑‑ing ICE could be outside [my concerts],” he told i-D magazine. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
