New Cast of Singles Search for Love

A new cast of singles hoping for a one-way ticket out of the trenches of dating have joined Love Is Blind. The hit Netflix series returns for its ninth season on Oct. 1, and the trailer for the upcoming 12-episode run promises heartbreak, drama, and revelatory truths.
This season’s cast hails from Denver, Colorado. In the pods, the contestants paint a fantasy of life on the outside. “I want to be engaged in a week,” one says. “Like, I’m getting married.” Another watches her own plans unravel quicker than she can get them out. “I’ve always really wanted two boys and a girl,” she says, before her pod partner reveals, “So, I actually got snipped.”
Maybe it’s better to have found out before any rings or promises of eternal love were exchanged, which is more than some other cast members can say. When the show makes its return to reality, the new couples are tasked with adjusting to living together and seeing how well their worlds mesh. “He really had me convinced that he was gonna be my husband,” one woman laments. Another grapples with learning about her partner’s drinking and partying lifestyle, which is a stark contrast to her own.

It’s a long road ahead, but at least a few happily ever afters have to be waiting at the end. “From a cynical producer position, if the viewer gets to the last episode, they’ve watched the whole season, and it doesn’t matter if you say yes or no,” Ally Simpson, executive producer of Love Is Blind, told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “Our job is to tell great stories all the way to the altar. Once you get to the altar, make the decision that’s right for you, because we don’t want divorces. We don’t want people getting married who shouldn’t get married.”
Love Is Blind Season Nine will run from Oct. 1 through Oct. 22 with new episodes premiering each Wednesday. Nick and Vanessa Lachey return as hosts.
