TCS drags SpiceJet to court over unpaid tech bills of Rs 2.34 crore

The Delhi High Court has summoned SpiceJet in a recovery case filed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), seeking attachment of the budget airline’s property at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1D.TCS is seeking recovery of ₹2.34 crore with interest from the airline towards services rendered between July 2019 to September 2023. The carrier has “blatantly refused to pay” against invoices and payment plans since 2020 and ignored TCS’ requests, the IT major’s counsel Asav Rajan told the court. SpiceJet even failed to appear for mediation despite repeated opportunities given by the Delhi High Court legal services committee, he noted. In her notice to SpiceJet last week, Justice Jyoti Singh gave four weeks to the airline to respond and posted the case for further hearing on November 14.Live EventsIn 2018, TCS and SpiceJet had entered into a multipronged services agreement where the former was to develop and support the ‘SAP S/4 HANA’ software system to streamline the carrier’s complex business operation. TCS provided these services to SpiceJet till 2023.Despite making multiple efforts to get its dues, including accepting payment plans provided by SpiceJet to accommodate its financial condition, the airline failed to fulfil its payment obligation to TCS, Rajan claimed. The IT firm continued to provide services to SpiceJet owing to the long-standing relationship between the two, the petition said.Even in January last year, SpiceJet acknowledged outstanding dues but failed to settle the accounts despite receiving a comprehensive invoice breakdown, TCS said, adding that even its repeated follow-ups and updates could not help. While TCS issued a legal notice on June 15, 2024, demanding its dues from the airline, the latter neither responded nor made any payment against the outstanding amount, the petition said.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
