In true “Love Is Blind” fashion, the trailer for Season 9 of the hit series promises love, heartbreak and deception.
On Sept. 10, Netflix introduced fans to the latest cast of singles who are entering the dating pods. Now, the streaming service has released a first look at the upcoming season.
A new trailer begins with several participants describing what being in love should feel like. They use adjectives ranging from “vulnerable” and “secure” to “fiery” and “spontaneous.”
Viewers then get a glimpse into some of the conversations the singles have in the pods. One enthusiastic female participant makes her intentions clear, telling her date, “I want to be engaged in a week — like, I’m getting married.”
Another woman who is eager to have children tells her date, “I’ve always really wanted like two boys and a girl.” She’s then disheartened to hear that her date previously got a vasectomy.
The topic of race comes up in one conversation when a male participant asks his date if she’s ever dated an Asian man. “No, I haven’t,” she says.
Another woman applauds the experiment’s pure intentions, saying, “I wouldn’t have given (my date) a chance in the outside world, but in here, I feel so comfortable.”
Similar to past seasons, love triangles are par for the course and one woman speaks candidly to her love interest, saying, “If you said ‘I love you’ to two separate people, that’s not love.”
Romance abounds as several couples get engaged, but one female participant second guesses her connection and says, “There’s something in my gut telling me this isn’t right.”
When the couples meet in person and start their lives together in the real world, trouble brews for some of them.
“He really had me convinced that he was going to be my husband,” one woman says of her fiancé.
“His drinking, partying, that’s not my lifestyle,” another woman says while venting to a friend.
One of the male participants appears to be ready to call it quits with his fiancée as he says, “I can’t do this.”
Another is concerned that his fiancée has one foot out the door as he says, “You’re looking for reasons to doubt us.”
As the weddings approach, tensions run high for some couples, but others are relishing in their honeymoon period.
“I feel like I could scream and laugh and cry all at once,” one woman says.
“God has put us on this path forever,” one man says.
Tears are shed as the experiment ends in heartbreak for some couples.
“You’ve completely broken my heart,” one woman says.
“At the altar. the truth will come out,” another says.
Season 9 of “Love Is Blind” premieres on Oct. 1 with six episodes. Subsequent episodes will premiere through Oct. 22.
