Libya Export Development Authority launches initiative to support olive oil exporters with storage tanks of international specifications

As part of its strategy to promote national exports, the Libya Export Development Authority (LEDA‎‎ – formerly the LEPC) announced last Thursday (18 September) the launch of an initiative to support the Libyan olive oil export sector by providing storage tanks of international specifications. The tanks are partly subsidised by LEDA.

‎This initiative, which comes under the slogan “Support that touches your need. Quality that reaches the world”‎, aims to enable olive presses to maintain the quality of their products and increase their competitiveness in international markets.

By supporting a sector that is considered one of the promising pillars of the national economy, LEDA says it seeks to ease the burden on the owners of olive presses and encourage them to develop their products in accordance with international standards. ‎

The move comes as part of the wider initiative by the Libyan Tripoli government to diversify its economy away from hydrocarbons by supporting other job-creating and revenue-earning sectors.
