This Meghalaya Man Eats 10kg Chillies For Breakfast, Even Uses Chilli Powder As 'Soap'

A remarkable tale has emerged from the dense forests and hills of Meghalaya, capturing attention on social media. Ram Pirtuh, a simple farmer from Bataw village in the East Jaintia Hills district, has gained worldwide fame for his extraordinary abilities.
As health trends are discussed globally, an old video of Ram consuming over 10 kilograms of hot dried chillies in one sitting has gone viral again, without him shedding a tear or breaking a sweat.
Viral posts claim that Ram even washes his private parts with red chilli powder without showing any reaction. While these claims have circulated widely, there is no verified evidence to support them. It remains unclear whether this is a factual account or simply a rumour.
Ram Pirtuh’s unusual talent gained prominence in 2021 when a local video showed him eating bags of chillies. The video, titled “This man from Meghalaya can eat 10 kilograms of hot chillies at a time,” was uploaded to Facebook and YouTube, garnering millions of views.

Ram, a farmer in his 50s, said, “Chilli is a part of my life. I’ve been eating it since childhood, and now I don’t feel any spiciness.”
When his shocking ability became known, many people began to test him. During a show, he was bathed in chilli paste, and chilli was even smeared around his private parts. Surprisingly, he suffered no discomfort. People in Bataw village say that Ram’s diet is chilli-based—rice, vegetables, everything is spicy.
Ram’s lifestyle makes him seem like a superhero. He wakes up with chilli tea in the morning, eats chilli-mutton curry in the afternoon, and consumes raw chillies in the evening. He says, “Chilli is my medicine—nothing seems to make me sick.”
Chilli cultivation is common in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills, but there’s no one quite like Ram. Now, his old video is going viral once again.
