His most significant career achievement came at King of the Ring in 1996, where he defeated Goldust to become the first-ever African American Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. During his time with the company, he was involved in main event feuds with stars like Faarooq and Vader and headlined several pay-per-view events.
While fans are relieved to hear of Johnson’s safety, his legacy as a trailblazing Intercontinental Champion remains a significant part of WWE history. The title he once held is currently in the spotlight on Monday Night Raw, held by Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day, who continues to bring weekly attention to the historic championship.
After his WWE departure, he stayed away from in-ring competition and mostly the public eye, with him doing a few conventions.
