Oktoberfest, fall fun and more in southeastern Pennsylvania

Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we will accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to obituaries@readingeagle.com.
In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased’s care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.
All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.

Oktoberfest at the Reading Liederkranz runs daily through Sunday, rain or shine. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The Liederkranz is at 143 Spook Lane, Lower Alsace Township, Berks County.
This celebration of German culture has been ranked one of USA Today’s top 3 Oktoberfests in the country the last seven years. This year it was ranked second.
The Liederkranz Oktoberfest features a wide variety of German food and drink, music, dancing and more. And of course there will be beer.

Lights Festival
The Lights Festival takes place Saturday starting at 4 p.m. and continuing into the night at Plantation Field, 1537 West Doe Run Road, Coatesville, Chester County. This evening sky lantern festival features food trucks, vendors and music, culminating in a coordinated lantern release at nightfall, weather and fire marshal approval dependent. Attendees can decorate lanterns, enjoy games and entertainment, and share a memorable experience with family and friends.

Tribute to Rush
Solar Federation Presents: A Tribute to Rush Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Miller Center for the Arts in Reading Area Community College. Solar Federation is dedicated to faithfully recreating the music of the iconic Canadian trio, from deep cuts to beloved hits.

Germantown Festival
The Revolutionary Germantown Festival takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cliveden and Historic Germantown sites, 6401 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia.
This free event commemorates the 248th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Germantown. Held rain or shine, it features reenactors, interpreters and hands-on activities across multiple historic Germantown sites. Brew Fest
The Kennett Brew Fest is scheduled for Saturday from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for general admission (Connoisseur Session opens at noon) at 600 S. Broad St., Kennett Square, Chester County. Taste unlimited samples from 85 breweries. Non-alcoholic options are available, and attendees receive tasting glassware. The event includes music and food. Shows in Reading
Treaty Oak Revival performs Friday at 8 at the Santander Arena in Reading. Parker Ryan is the opening act. Treaty Oak Revival blends Red Dirt country with punk rock energy, creating a raw, energetic sound.
Also Friday in Reading, “The Killers Of Kill Tony” standup comedy show comes to the Santander Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Building upon the success and energy of the “Kill Tony” podcast, performers share their wit, humor and unique comedic styles. Performers include Harland Williams, Hans Kim, Martin Phillips and more.
On Thursday night at 8, the performing arts center hosts “Evil Dead in Concert,” featuring the 1981 horror classic accompanied by an orchestral ensemble.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender in Concert” comes to the performing arts center Saturday at 7. The event features highlights and favorite moments from the series as it marks its 20th anniversary. The visuals are accompanied by an orchestra.

Roxtoberfest runs from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on Ridge Avenue from Lyceum to Leverington in Philadelphia. This street festival features food trucks, craft brews, music, German-themed entertainment, competitions, crafters, activities for kids and the Spocktoberfest celebration of “Star Trek.”

Bensalem festival
The Bensalem Township Community Fall Fest takes place Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. and concluding with fireworks at 8:15. The event is being held at the municipal complex, 2400 Byberry Road, Bensalem, Bucks County. The festival featuring family entertainment, roaming performers, kids activities, and demonstrations, with free concerts , magic shows, jugglers, pony rides, petting zoo, and more run throughout the afternoon. Food trucks and a beer garden are on-site.

Perkasie fun
The Perkasie Fall Fest takes place Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Menlo Park and Perkasie Town Center in the Bucks County borough. There will be free attractions and shuttle buses between the locations.
