Murrells Inlet is getting a new drive-thru coffee shop

MURRELLS INLET — A new drive-thru coffee shop is coming to the Murrells Inlet area.
Salty Bottoms Espresso will be located on US Highway 17 Business near Van Buren Drive.
Owners Todd and Lea Hoiland moved to the Myrtle Beach-area three years ago. They were unsure if they would stay, but after falling in love with, it they decided to stick around and start their newest business venture, Lea Hoiland said.
Salty Bottoms Espresso will be a drive-thru only store. Hoiland wanted to give people a local option that would help them avoid the Starbucks or Dunkin’ lines in the morning, she said.
“We just want to make it really quick and simple for the people,” Hoiland said.
The store’s menu will offer all of the traditional coffee options, as well as energy drinks. There will be Red-Bull-based and natural green tea-based energy drinks.
The coffee beans will come from Pisgah Coffee Roasters, a Brazilian roaster based near Asheville. Salty Bottoms Espresso will be one of the only spots in the area that offers Brazilian coffee, Hoiland said.
For now, the menu will be drinks only. In the future, Hoiland said she would like to add some breakfast options, such as pastries, to the menu.
The Hoiland’s hope to open in the next 30 to 60 days, if the rest of their approval process goes smoothly.
They have been working through permits and approvals for about 10 months now, and should finally be able to put their sign and menu up soon, Hoiland said.
Salty Bottoms Espresso will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. They are still trying to figure out Sunday hours, Hoiland said.
