Shardiya Navratri begins from September 22nd, 2025. Celebrated all across the country with great zest and fervour, Goddess Durga is worshipped in nine forms during Navratri. Each form is dedicated to each day of Shardiya Navratri, and this year, the Navratri will last for 10 days. For the unversed, in Hinduism, Goddess Durga is not just a symbol of strength and protection but also showcases the spiritual journey every individual goes through in life. Every year there are 5 Navratri that are celebrated and observed all across globe. Each Navratri has its own significance and conveys a message of universe. The Navratris which are observed in the lunar months of Chaitra Navratri, Ashadha Gupt Navratri, Sharadiya (Shardiya) Navratri, Magha Gupt Navratri and Paush Navratri. Each Navratri sets the tone for the year ahead, and acts a bridge between human and divinity. Not everyone knows but the vahan that Maa Durga comes and departs in also holds great significance. What Is The Significance Of Vahan?As per classics, based on the day on which Navratri starts and ends, decides the Vahan of Maa Durga. It sets the tone of mundane prediction. This also facilitates adjustments in the pooja style to minimise the negative consequences (if any) and maximize the positive outcomes. Meaning of Aagman Vahan: This means the Vahan on which maa comes on the first day of Navratri. It tells us what kind of energy the year will bring and what She has chosen to give us.Meaning of Gaman Vahan: This means the Vahan on which maa comes departs from Earth for Kailash, and as per Devi Puran Dusshera is considered as last day of Navratri. It talks about the outcome, the duty, and the karmic settlement that people will have to deal with after She returns to Kailash. Durga’s Vahanas In 2025 And What Do They Signify?Sidhharrth says, “This year in 2025, Shardiya Navratri starts on Sep 22, 2025 which is a Monday, and hence the aagman vahan would be Elephant (Gaj). This year in 2025, the Shardiya Navratri would end on Oct 2, 2025 which is Thursday, and hence the gaman vahan would be Human (Nar).” The elephant, which is linked to strength, majesty, and clouds that bring rain, is a sign of wealth, fertility, and stability for everyone. It promises plentiful rains, lots of harvests, and a boost to economies that depend on farming at the country level. This will make governments more stable and give people more faith in them. On a spiritual level, it encourages patience, wisdom, and clarity. But the elephant’s heavy and ponderous nature can sometimes mean that people are too comfortable, that there are too many bureaucratic delays, or that there is too much rain and flooding in some areas. So, while an elephant’s entrance means plenty and stability, it also advises people and civilizations not to get too comfortable or resistive to change, but to manage their wealth wisely. On the other hand, the human vehicle shows that the fate of the year is in the hands of people, not divine or animal vehicles, which represent protection from nature or cosmic forces. It warns of problems with government, legislation, and public health at the country level. If people don’t take responsibility, there could be unrest or ethical issues. At the global level, it warns that the human decisions will predominate global consequences, asserting that conflicts, climatic challenges, and economic instability would arise more from human oversight than from natural calamities.
