Haiti – Reminder : Passport applications for Haitians living abroad15/09/2025 09:00:03
In a memo, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) reminds the general public that “only consulates and embassies are authorized to receive passport applications from Haitians living abroad, in accordance with established standards and procedures.”
It also takes this opportunity to reiterate that Haitian law in no way authorizes any agency or third party to interfere in the application process and the issuance of travel documents abroad.
The DIE specifies that the applicant’s presence is mandatory before the authorized public official for the signature and collection of biometric data, without which no authentic Haitian passport can be issued.
Consequently, the DIE will spare no effort to bring to justice any violator of these provisions, as well as their accomplices.
In this regard, it calls on the population to remain vigilant and to visit Haitian diplomatic missions abroad for any travel document issued by the Haitian government, the only official and legal channel.
The DIE is committed to ensuring a transparent and fair service, by minimizing the delivery time for Haitian passports abroad.
