RSS Chief Says Pahalgam Attack Revealed India's True Friends, Warns Of 'Unconstitutional Elements'

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday addressed the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, where he said that the role played by several countries in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack revealed India’s true friends and warned of “unconstitutional elements” within the country.
“Terrorists from across the border killed 26 Indians after asking about their religion. The entire nation was mourning and angry about the terror attack. With complete preparations, our government and armed forces gave a befitting reply (to the attack). The government’s dedication, the armed forces’ valour, and the unity in the society presented an ideal atmosphere in the country,” Bhagwat said.
The RSS chief said the attack showed that even if India adopts a friendly approach to all countries, it needs to be alert and strong to defend its own security. “The role played by various nations after this incident and our operation revealed our true friends. Within the country as well, there are unconstitutional elements who try to destabilise the country,” he added.

Bhagwat said the principles of the “anti-social” Naxalite movement were so cruel and hollow that society had turned away from the campaign, while the security forces and the government acted quickly.
The 75-year-old RSS chief also warned that the instability seen in the neighbouring countries – the latest being Nepal – are concerning for India and its people. “They concern our own region and people, some of whom were part of India in the past. This is why it is a matter of concern, not merely for national security, but because it affects our sense of belonging and emotional connection,” he said.

In a reference towards Nepal, Bhagwat said that while people turn against the government that remains oblivious to its problems, using violent protests as a way to express unhappiness benefits no one.
He also warned about the rise of unhealthy and destructive ideologies that have led to the erosion of tradition, prosperity, culture and faith across the world, bringing societal disruption. “A new wave of opposing and harmful ideologies has emerged, attempting to spread even in India. Globally, this has caused social instability and disorder, prompting nations to reconsider their approaches,” he said.
