Memba invests in community development

IN an admirable commitment to community welfare and educational advancement, Steven Memba, the Chairman of the National Fisheries Authority, has allocated K300,000 towards the construction of an administration building at Gia High School in Jiwaka Province in 2023.

This substantial investment reflects a proactive approach not only towards enhancing the educational infrastructure but also towards uplifting the surrounding communities in Lower Kaguel, Tambul-Nebilyer.

By focusing on educational facilities, Memba aims to create an environment conducive to learning, which is essential for the development of the youth in the district.

The newly funded administration building will serve a variety of purposes, significantly improving the operational capacity of Gia High School. It will provide a centralised location for administrative activities, allowing for better management of school affairs, improved communication with parents and community stakeholders, and enhanced organisational efficiency. As a result, this investment will directly translate to better governance within the school and ultimately lead to improved educational outcomes for students.

In addition to the administration building, he has also invested in enhancing water supply services within the school premises. Access to clean water is crucial for maintaining health and hygiene standards, particularly within educational institutions.

Mr Memba has not only provided clean water accessibility to the community, but he is in fact promoting a healthier environment for students and staff and also setting a precedent for similar initiatives in the surrounding communities and the people have embraced the significant initiative.

The students, the school administration and the board of management have welcomed and acknowledged the developments undertaken by Mr Memba. As the impact of these initiatives extends beyond the school itself, benefitting seven council wards in the Lower Kaguel region.

The beneficiaries believe that the development of educational infrastructure and access to clean water resonate throughout the community, as families and local residents will also reap the rewards of improved facilities.

The people through their spokesperson led by the school administration said the broader focus exemplifies Mr Memba’s understanding of the interconnectedness of education and health, and how such investment can lead to other positive outcome in the community. These developments represent a holistic approach to community enhancement, addressing multiple critical needs simultaneously.

The beneficiaries said Mr Memba’s initiatives at Gia High School exemplify a commendable strategy for sustainable development.

They said by investing in educational infrastructure and essential services like water supply, he is fostering an environment that supports student success while also improving the overall quality of life for community members in Lower Kagual.
