Aalin Dairy says the lack of rain caused a knock-on effect by slowing grass growth, meaning milk production dropped.

The Sulby business says 40% of its cow herd hasn’t recovered since and can’t produce enough calves.

It adds it’s tried to buy cows on Island but none are available, and imports from the UK are currently banned because of the blue tongue virus.
