Browns Legend Calls for Team to Make Bold Shedeur Sanders Decision

Heading into their Week 5 matchup, the Cleveland Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski have decided to make a quarterback change. Facing off against the Minnesota Vikings in London won’t be an easy matchup, but Dillon Gabriel will be taking the field with the team’s first unit.
While the Browns have made a starting quarterback change, it has been announced that Joe Flacco will remain the team’s primary backup behind Gabriel. Shedeur Sanders will not move a step closer to seeing game action. That is a decision that has made some fans and media members upset.
It sure does seem like Cleveland wants to do everything in its power to avoid playing Sanders this season.

Even though the Browns have made their quarterback decisions for Week 5, they have now been urged by a team legend to make a bold decision regarding Sanders.
During an appearance on the “Top Dawgs Show,” Hanford Dixon spoke out with his opinion about what the team should do with Sanders. He wants to see them make the former Colorado standout the No. 2 quarterback.
“If Dillon is not doing it, he’s not cutting it, not getting it done, you gotta see what Shedeur can do!” Dixon said.
Truthfully, he is 100 percent correct. Cleveland cannot exit the 2025 season without knowing whether or not it has a future starting quarterback on the roster. Gabriel might prove that in his starts, but should that not happen the Browns need to give Sanders a chance.
Many fans feel the same way. In fact, many would rather see Sanders get playing time this week than Gabriel. That isn’t going to happen, but there is no reason for Cleveland to keep Sanders off of the field all season long.
Stefanski clearly does not feel comfortable with Sanders at this point in time. He doesn’t think Sanders is ready to see the field.

Will that change throughout the remainder of the 2025 season? Only time will tell, but Dixon certainly believes that he should be the next man up if things don’t go well for Gabriel. It’s hard to argue against him.
Going back to Flacco would accomplish absolutely nothing for the franchise. Hopefully, the Browns end up agreeing with him if that time comes.
