CLEANER POS COMING

THE city of Port of Spain will be a cleaner capital in the coming months with the anticipated return of litter wardens, bins and trash carts.
Port of Spain Mayor Chinua Alleyne said focus is to be placed on a “Clean City” initiative in a bid to keep trash off the streets downtown and in surrounding districts.
Speaking at a news conference at City Hall yesterday, Alleyne said the Port of Spain City Corporation is seeking to use its unspent balance of $18 million to help fund the initiative, following an unsuccessful bid to access $3.8 million of its previous budgetary allocation.

We have had to dealwith multiple drones

PRESIDENT of the Prison Officers’ Association Gerard Gordon has responded to the recent interception of a drone about 50 metres from the Maximum Security Prison (MSP) in Arouca and said the service has had to contend with multiple drones.
Police reported on Monday that an operation conducted between 7 p.m. on Sunday and 5.45 a.m. on Monday, resulted in the capture of a drone near the MSP and the arrest of three people.

A ‘not surprising about-turn’

Former prime minister Stuart Young, in response to questions from the Express, stated via Whatsapp that the news from the US State Department is consistent with what Secretary of State Marco Rubio told him at a meeting in Jamaica earlier this year.
The former energy minister also noted Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar had indicated the Dragon deal was “dead”.

Dragon rises again

Five months after Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar declared the Dragon gas deal “dead”, it seems to have been resuscitated.
The latest development in the cross-border Trinidad and Tobago-Venezuela natural gas project followed Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s meeting yesterday with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
