Top WWE SmackDown Star's Injury Status After Spot Goes Wrong

An update has been reported on the injury status of a marquee title contender on “WWE SmackDown.” Jade Cargill challenged for the WWE Women’s Championship in a triple threat match this past Friday. She faced titleholder Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax. Cargill was close to winning her first world title, but Stratton broke up her pin attempt and landed the Prettiest Moonsault Ever on Jax to score the win.

Cargill suffered a deep gash on her eyebrow, seemingly when she was thrown into the ring steps by Jax. While there was some initial concern over the cut, PWInsider reports that Cargill didn’t require plastic surgery, but she did need stitches following the injury. WWE is hopeful the top star can return to in-ring action in a few weeks.

Jade Cargill’s Run in WWE

While Cargill has yet to win a singles title in WWE, she has been positioned strongly on TV. She once held one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Bianca Belair, a one-time “WrestleMania” main eventer. Cargill has also been in several high-profile feuds with the likes of Naomi, Stratton, and Jax. She was even booked to look strong despite her recent loss on “SmackDown,” as she did not take the pin.

Cargill has been featured in three title matches thus far in her WWE run. She fell short in her first crack at the gold when she was pinned by Stratton at “SummerSlam 2025.” Their championship rematch on the Sept. 12 episode of “SmackDown” ended in a double count-out, and Jax attacked both women, which led to the aforementioned triple threat title match.

There is no word on whether or not WWE has plans for Cargill to continue feuding with Jax and Stratton once she is cleared for an in-ring return. The company should be given another update on “The Storm’s” status soon.
