Brock Purdy, Jauan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall have been ruled out for Thursday, leaving this already banged-up team with even less to work with against their divisional rivals.

Brock Purdy #13 of the San Francisco 49ers looks to pass during the NFL 2025 game between San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on September 07, 2025 in Seattle, Washington.

Purdy finally returned in Week 4 after spending the last two games recovering from a turf toe injury. However, Purdy told head coach Kyle Shanahan that his toe was bothering him the following day.

With a short week, Shanahan revealed it would be unlikely that Purdy would play, and that is now the case. A similar situation occurred with Pearsall, who had been nursing a knee injury heading into Week 4. It appears that the knee injury was also reaggravated, keeping him from playing against the Rams.

Jennings was dealing with a shoulder and ankle injury heading into Week 4, but he was injured during a two-point conversion play. He caught the ball but was banged in between two Jacksonville Jaguars defenders, causing another injury.

Jennings has been designated with an ankle and rib injury, which will also keep him out of the Rams matchup.

Mac Jones will now start for the third time this season, and his playmakers will be even more limited. Wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson will be available, along with running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end Jake Tongues.

Through all these injuries, the 49ers still have an impressive 3-1 record. The issue is the Rams are a very tough team, and being without this many starters and offensive weapons might lead to the team’s second straight loss of the season.
