Next year, Uzbekistan will mark the year of Youth vocational training. This was announced today, September 15, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his meeting with teachers and mentors in the Bostanlik district of the Tashkent region.
’’We must educate our youth not only to keep pace with the times but also to prepare them for the future. Let us never forget: the future belongs to those equipped with modern knowledge and skilled in new professions,’’ the Head of State said.
It was noted that the economy is receiving $30–35 billion in annual investment, introducing new sectors and modern technologies, and thousands of enterprises are starting operations. As a result, approximately 250,000–300,000 high-income jobs are being created each year.
These positions primarily provide additional employment opportunities for young people. However, it was emphasized that they must possess knowledge of modern technologies, foreign languages, and professional skills.
The Vocational Education Agency is being established to achieve this. The main task of this agency, together with local authorities, will be to introduce a modern environment and implement international standards across all 598 technical colleges.
Within one year, cooperation will be established in 100 technical colleges with educational institutions from countries such as Germany, Switzerland, China, Korea, and the United Kingdom, introducing their most advanced vocational education programs. In addition, any applicant with vocational skills will be able to take exams in these technical colleges through foreign qualification assessment systems and obtain international certificates.
Starting this academic year, the UK’s ’’Pearson’’ company launched the “BTEC“ international program in 14 regional technical colleges. Through this program, young people will acquire high-demand professions based on international standards in fields such as tourism, information technology, medicine, construction, logistics, electrical engineering, energy, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, and the creative economy.
Next year, approximately $45 billion worth of 456 major industrial projects will be launched. Under the “Investor – Sector – Technical College” chain, dual education will be introduced in technical colleges. A competition will be held among technical colleges with specific projects in collaboration with enterprises to establish modern workshops. Winners of the competition will receive modern equipment and tools for the workshops, as well as sports facilities.
During the discussion, it was stated that the coverage of dual education will increase fivefold. To encourage partner enterprises, they will be granted preferential loans of up to 5 billion soums, and the unified social contribution for students working under dual education will be reduced by half.
At present, it was emphasized that learning foreign languages is very important for mastering new technologies and communicating freely with foreign investors. Therefore, the number of hours allocated for foreign language studies in technical colleges will be quadrupled.
In general, a new digital platform will be launched starting next year. It will provide complete information about the vocational skills of technical college graduates, which will be openly accessible not only to domestic but also to foreign employers.
