Saundre Simmons To Fight In Mexico

Bermudian boxer Saundre “Dash” Simmons is set to return to the ring against Mexican Francisco Rios in Mexicali in Baja California on October 4.

Simmons, who has moved into the top 20 in the light heavyweight division in the United States, will meet Rios in a six-round light heavyweight bout at the Gimnasio de Mexicali.

The 28-year-old has won all eight of his professional bouts since joining the paid ranks in December 2023.

Rios, 34, has a record of 16 wins, 16 defeats and three draws.

“Can’t wait to see all my folks on the West Coast and reconnect with everybody,” Simmons said.

“I’m looking forward to putting on a performance that impresses.”

Born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Simmons was raised by his Bermudian parents in Somerset before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, with his mother when he was 12.

He enjoyed a successful amateur career, placing runner-up at the USA National Boxing Championships in Louisiana and the Golden Gloves of America in Oklahoma in 2021.
