Tips and race-by-race guide for Nowra on Sunday

2. The Main Event was coming along well before going to Sydney and not being quite up to Highway company at this stage. Back to a Class 1 and was dominant in winning her maiden at Moruya beating a subsequent winner. Entitled to go close from a soft draw in a small field. 3. Rocco Lini looked pretty good on debut at the Sapphire Coast in December but didn’t replicate it at his only other run when favourite. Given plenty of time and a recent trial winner. Well worth considering. 4. Blue Bayou has three seconds from her last five starts, though she was disappointing a month ago at Moruya when supported. Freshened up and capable of bouncing back. 6. Written By Lucy just got the job done to break through at her fourth start at Gundagai two weeks ago. Has to step up but a chance in the small field. How to play it: The Main Event to win.

6. First Class Baby strikes a very winnable race and she appreciated the step up in distance when runner-up at Queanbeyan two weeks ago when supported at odds. If she can replicate that effort she has a good chance to improve. 3. Time For Snow was a drifter in betting when he resumed at Gundagai and made some ground from well back. Contested the Black Opal last prep and the rise in trip looks to be in his favour. Chance to improve sharply. 2. Gunfighter Road is a big market watch given he’s had the one trial and didn’t beat one home at Moruya earlier in the week. Won’t need to be a star to be competitive. 7. Rawano is yet to place in 13 starts and was $201 when fifth at Nowra a few weeks ago. Minor claims. How to play it: First Class Baby to win.

5. Wal’s Angels was right in the market first-up at Goulburn and did a good job running second on a heavy track. Better for the run and a better surface will assist, stepping up in trip another plus. Does look particularly hard to beat. 7. Acheson is coming back from two starts at the mile where he’s finished just behind the placings and draws to get the run of the race. Good enough on his day and has to be respected. 8. Artifactx was safely held by the winner but otherwise did quite a good job to run second when resuming here earlier this month. Only win to date is at 1400m and stays under notice. 6. A Book Of Days has been racing on heavy tracks of late and been performing consistently without winning. Drifter when he led and boxed on for third at Goulburn last week. Has a show. How to play it: Wal’s Angels to win.
