Dr. Jane Goodall, the pioneering chimpanzee researcher and animal welfare advocate whose work made her one of the foremost and best-known conservationists in the world, died today of natural causes while on a speaking tour in California. She was 91.
Her death was announced by The Jane Goodall Institute. In a statement, the Institute said “Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States.”
“Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionized science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world.”
