THE University of the South Pacific (USP) is proud to announce that five of its academics have been recognised among the world’s Top 2% scientists by Stanford University for 2025.
This prestigious ranking identifies researchers whose work is among the most cited globally, reflecting their significant impact on their respective fields.
This is a landmark achievement for USP, marking the highest number of USP academics featured on the list. It also highlights the University’s growing international influence and commitment to research excellence.
The five distinguished academics and their research fields are:
Professor Gurmeet Singh – Business & Management
Professor M. Rafiuddin Ahmed – Mechanical Engineering & Transport
Professor Surendra Prasad – Analytical Chemistry
Dr Shavneet Sharma – Sport, Leisure & Tourism
Dr Vikas Gupta – Sport, Leisure & Tourism
Special congratulations are extended to Professor Surendra Prasad and Professor M Rafiuddin Ahmed, who have been recognised for career-long impact for four consecutive years, reflecting their sustained contribution and global influence in their respective fields.

Being listed is a highly regarded recognition, placing the researcher among the most influential and highly cited scientists globally.
