The Engineer Leading with Heart: Srishti Sundram’s Path to Meaningful Success

Growing up in a small town in Bihar, India, Srishti Sundram couldn’t have imagined he’d one day help change how a million families feed their children and save newborn lives across conflict zones. With over a decade of experience working in startups, Sundram has consistently shown a unique ability to translate complex engineering into real-world solutions that save lives, empower small businesses, and create economic opportunities.

At Embrace, a social impact company founded by four individuals from Stanford, Sundram helped develop patented neonatal care devices that have impacted more than one million newborns worldwide. The technology, initially used in zones with heavy conflict like Afghanistan and Ukraine, was a breakthrough in affordable infant health care. It merged technical precision with easy use in these critical settings.

Empowering Creators and Building Revenue

Sundram’s impact didn’t stop at making medical technology. In 2016, after earning an MBA and MS in Environmental Resources at Stanford University, he joined the team at Jupiter, a tech-driven consumer platform that helps families cook healthier meals.

What began as a part-time role became a co-founder position and Chief Customer Officer title at Jupiter. He is now leading the company’s core business unit that is responsible for 95% of its total revenue.

Under Sundram’s leadership, Jupiter has been able to pay out over $3 million to more than 100 recipe content creators, many of whom are just small businesses. By integrating marketing technology with people’s love for food, he has helped transform social media into a powerful vehicle for healthy living and economic mobility.

A Career Defined by Technical Excellence

Even before his time working in Silicon Valley, Sundram’s skills were obvious. He was the first person in his extended family to attend a prestigious university, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), where he earned recognition for his award-winning project in his final year. The project was a 3D targeting system powered by image processing and robotics. As a member of a national champion robotics team, he represented India in the international competition in Tokyo.

Today, Sundram continues to influence the world of tech. He is a member of the Forbes Technology Council and contributes to Forbes’ food marketing and technology trends. He has judged prestigious events like the Stevie Awards for Tech Excellence and the DigiDay Awards. He is currently managing multi-million dollar budgets for Jupiter’s branding partners.

Resilience, Vision, and Leadership

Although he has been highly successful in the industry, Sundram’s career has had many challenges along the way. At Embrace, he simplified a complex life-saving technology into a field-ready product, which required years of experimentation, fixes, and persistence.

A failed product launch at Jupiter could have derailed the company’s quick momentum. Instead, he incorporated user feedback, refined their offerings, turning the company back towards success and achieving over 120% Net Revenue Retention.

A Future With Purpose

His leadership philosophy is clearly based on compassion. “Be genuinely invested in the growth of people who work with you,” he says. His mission remains clear: to use technology as a tool for wide-scale social impact. He envisions a world where nutritious food is accessible and food waste is minimized.

Srishti Sundram’s rare combination of technical skills, compassionate leadership, and a deep sense of social responsibility allows him to redefine what it means to be a tech leader. His actions prove that large-scale impact can begin with just one powerful idea.
