Drayton Manor to celebrate 75th anniversary with 'biggest of its kind' end-of-day show

The show combines a 30m water screen, more than 65 water jets, bursts of fire, vibrant lights and striking animated projections to create a visual feast that’s set to delight visitors.

Working alongside leading industry experts, CRYSTAL – the team behind the Paris Olympics opening ceremony and other large-scale shows that involve water, lights, sound and video projection – the new show is set to be the biggest of its kind in the UK.

The announcement is part of a series of significant investments and upgrades at the park, near Tamworth.

Last year alone the park opened two new rollercoasters – Gold Rush and a reimagined version of Shockwave, newly named The Wave – and this year has seen Drayton Manor host a series of new events, as well as open a special anniversary museum, in celebration of the park’s 75th anniversary.

Kicking off on Saturday, October 25, the first display will be a ‘Monsters and Magic’ theme to match the park’s already spooktacular schedule of Halloween entertainment and is included in the price of a day ticket. The show’s theme will adapt to suit seasonal events throughout the year.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy smaller pre-shows throughout the day, where fountains will launch above the lake, set to a variety of captivating musical scores, before the full evening spectacle.

Victoria Lynn, managing director at Drayton Manor, said: “This year marks our 75th anniversary, and we wanted to do something truly epic to mark the milestone. We have chosen to create something one-of-a-kind that will add a new emotional dimension to the Drayton Manor experience that we’re confident our visitors will love.

“Drayton Manor has a rich history of bringing families together over the last 75 years, and the new show will offer a fitting finale to every family day out. We can’t wait for our guests to see the incredible scale, creativity, and passion that has gone into making it the largest of its kind in the UK.”

Michel Amann, CEO and creative director at CRYSTAL, added: “We’re incredibly excited to bring our world-class water show expertise to Drayton Manor, bringing the park’s iconic lake to life this autumn. After working closely with the operations team to develop an exciting, bespoke and never-before-seen creative concept, we’re thrilled to unveil a first look at the new end-of-day show and look forward to creating an epic experience for Drayton Manor’s visitors.

“Building on our long track record of permanent water show installations in theme parks around the world, we’re especially proud of this collaboration with Drayton Manor. Their confidence in our services has enabled us to deliver the UK’s first and largest water, fire, and multimedia show – marking a milestone moment for both the park and its guests – and we’re excited to see the event in action soon.”
