Amazon Fire and Echo gadget prices plummet as new devices announced

Amazon’s extensive range of smart home gadgets are incredibly popular in households these days, with the Alexa smart assistant helping thousands of us perform helpful tasks on a daily basis. From basic speakers to TVs and ereaders, the Amazon tech range is extensive – and it’s about to expand even further. The American tech and online retail giant has just revealed its planned launch line-up for the rest of 2025, and there are some exciting innovations for gadget-heads to get excited about. These range from new budget entries to some particularly pricey ‘pro’ gadgets for the enthusiasts out there. Perhaps the most exciting new release is the Fire TV Stick 4K Select , which will soon be the cheapest TV stick Amazon offers that can stream 4K video. It will come in at a price point of £49.99, a tenner less than the £59.99 that the current 4K stick retails for. New Fire TV models are on the way too, with new additions to the 2-series, 4-series and QLED series. These are expected to boast more powerful internals that are capable of running the latest operating system and experiences like Xbox Cloud Gaming. Elsewhere, the Kindle Scribe is getting a few new additions including a model with a colour screen. Not only do these Kindles let owners read ebooks, but they also come with a stylus that’s perfect for note taking and drawing. In terms of speakers, the Echo Dot is getting a ‘Max’ model that’s a little larger than the current model and packs a much bigger sound profile. That’ll launch at £99.99, but a huge £219.99 ‘Studio’ device will also be available for £219.99 for music enthusiasts. Elsewhere, Ring Doorbells and Blink security cameras are each getting updates to their respective ranges, all of which are available to pre-order now. Shoppers can read more about the new products over on Amazon’s blog post . While the announcement of new products is exciting for those who like to remain on the bleeding edge of technology, the announcement has triggered a bunch of Amazon’s existing gadgets to be significantly reduced in price. I’ve rounded up the biggest discounts of them all below: The Amazon Fire HD 10 is the middle-of-the-road sized tablet that’s ideal for those looking for something capable but portable. Its 10-inch screen is perfect for catching up with TV and movies on the go while remaining small enough to slip into the laptop part of a backpack. It runs Amazon’s Fire OS, so app selection is a little more limited than typical Android tablets. However, it’s available at a massive saving right now with a 53% discount taking it to £69.99 . Looking for a smaller tablet that can almost fit in a pocket? The Fire HD 8 tablet is the one to go for. Despite its small size, this is a little pocket rocket of a tablet, perfect for when you need a screen that’s just a bit bigger than a smart phone. Ideal for reading books or browsing the web, it’s currently down to £49.99 from £99.99 . The Fire HD Max tablet is the device for people who want a tablet that can actually pull double-duty as a laptop. Pair a Bluetooth keyboard to this device and you’ve got a super portable device with a screen that’s large enough for writing out documents or catching up on movies that are best viewed on a larger screen. Again, it uses the Amazon app store, so some popular apps might not be available like they are on Android or iOS. However, with a huge 48% discount, it’s an attractive buy at £129.99 . The Amazon Echo Dot is one of the more popular speakers in Amazon’s smart speaker line-up with it striking the perfect balance between price and sound quality. Its spherical design bounces sound around the room, with the Alexa smart assistant capable of taking voice commands thanks to the internal microphones. What’s great about these speakers is that they can be paired together to completely fill the home with seamless sound. That’s more achievable than ever thanks to the recent price drop, which sees the Echo Dot go from £54.99 to £29.99 . Those looking to save even more on an Alexa-enabled speaker should opt for the Echo Pop. It features a slightly slimmer design that fits into smaller spaces in the home, and also comes in a variety of colours to match the decor. If homeowners are worried about the microphones always being activated, there’s a switch that can manually shut them off completely for complete privacy. The Echo Pop is currently a fiver cheaper than the Echo Pop, coming in at £24.99 down from £44.99 . Ever wondered what would happen if an Alexa-enabled speaker had a tablet screen attached to it? That’s exactly what the Echo Show 8 is, with it capable of displaying anything from TV shows to the weather or cooking recipes. These devices work particularly well in the kitchen, and can pull double-duty as a digital photo frame to keep fond memories constantly rotating. Amazon has knocked 40% off this device, taking it from £149.99 down to £89.99 . Last up, we have the trusty Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. This handy little device can breathe new life into any ageing telly with an HDMI port, replacing laggy operating systems with Amazon’s powerful hardware. What’s more, Amazon might be pitching its latest Fire Select stick as the new ‘cheapest’ 4K streaming device, but the current model is actually almost half the price of the proposed £49.99 of the new model. Grab it here for £25.99 before the deal ends .
