For over 50 years, fans have created their own Dungeons & Dragons universes across pen and paper, digital formats, and in many cases, LEGO sets. The creative freedom this setting offers is tough to beat, and one fan managed to craft an incredible LEGO set that looks as official as it can get.
Shared on Reddit, user JaskierTheBard_pl showcased their custom LEGO creation, which brings the world of D&D to life in a fascinating way. Not only were they able to capture the essence of taking on a dungeon with a party, but the actual act of playing D&D, all in the same set.
This Fan Set Was Crafted For A D&D Anniversary
It Looks Official To Me
Created for a LEGO contest that ran concurrently with Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary, this fan set deals with multiple aspects of D&D in both an in-game and meta way. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional, and show just how talented many LEGO creators are.
The best part of this LEGO set is that it tells a story. On the bottom floor, kids are playing D&D in their basement. Above them, their characters are recreated, including the Dungeon Master, who is commanding the enemies. This set is meticulously designed, as the kids’ characters reflect their own personal looks (one of them even sports a cast) and are mirrored in position upstairs.
As the creator puts it, they wanted to show the most important aspect of RPGs: “having fun with a group of friends in [an imaginary], fantasy world.” This set is the perfect size for someone like me, and it would easily be something I’d impulse-buy if I saw it in a storefront. Although we’ve reached the point where there are official Dungeons & Dragons LEGO sets, I’d easily take this one if the creator wants to knock on the LEGO corporation’s door.
LEGO Continues To Dominate IP Crossovers
It’s Basically The Fortnite Of Toys
LEGO Dungeons & Dragons is already a thing, and that hasn’t stopped LEGO from moving on to more and more IP-based creations. The LEGO Nintendo Game Boy set was just released recently, amid tie-ins for One Piece (specifically the Netflix show) and, of course, more Star Wars. Other than the fact that some of these sets are exorbitantly expensive, it’s a great time to be a LEGO fan if you’re into crossovers.
