Hospital Too Far, Treatment Delayed: Strange Chain Of Events In Finance Ministry Official's Death in Delhi BMW Crash

Delhi BMW Crash: The deadly BMW accident involving Navjot Singh, a deputy secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, on Sunday has caused widespread concern in the national capital. According to family members, Singh might have survived if he had been taken to a hospital closer to the crash site near Dhaula Kuan. The official was returning home on a motorcycle with his wife after visiting Gurudwara Bangla Sahib when the accident occurred. The couple was admitted to a hospital in GTB Nagar, which was about 17 kms away from the site of the accident. Singh died on the spot, while his wife sustained severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Navnoor Singh, the official’s son, asked why his parents were admitted to a hospital that is 22 kms away from the incident spot. Had they been taken to a nearby hospital, they were alive, he added. Singh added the accused couple were the ones who took his parents to the hospital. He is waiting for CCTV footage from the incident site to clear the image. Meanwhile, his mother, who suffered ankle and other severe injuries, were made to wait in the hospital lobby. “Despite her severe condition, she was left in the lobby while another person with minor injuries was given a room,” he said. At first, Navnoor said, the woman appeared to have been absconded, but she was in the same building on another floor. Police will record the mother’s statement once she is stable. Who Was Driving the BMW? The accused driver has been identified as Gaganpreet Makkad, who was accompanied by her husband, Parikshit. Both were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. According to police sources, Gaganpreet’s family (maternal home) lives in Mukherjee Nagar. Since the hospital belongs to acquaintances of the accused family, Navjot Singh and his wife were taken there despite it being 19 kilometers away from the crash site, Times Now learned. Gaganpreet and her husband are reportedly involved in the leather business. Rishav Samrat, a friend of Navjot Singh, told TOI, “AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital were much closer. I later learned that the GTB Nagar hospital was linked to the family of the woman driving the BMW.” Samrat also noted that the deceased had been involved in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and had recently returned from Spain after representing India in multiple international meetings. “After 10 days of back-to-back meetings, he went to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with his wife Santosh, a schoolteacher,” he added.
