New Capital One Transfer Partners

New Capital One Transfer Partners

Capital One has announced the addition of three new transfer partners to its already impressive lineup: Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, and I Prefer Hotel Rewards. With these new partners, Capital One now has an impressive total of 22 transfer partners.
The addition of Japan Airlines particularly grabbed my attention because, until now, it has been difficult to earn JAL miles through credit card transfers. In the past, I’ve been frustrated by the limited options available for earning JAL miles.
Here’s what both current and prospective cardholders should know about these new partners.
Which Capital One cards allow transfers?
You can earn transferable Capital One miles with a wide range of travel credit cards. Anyone who wants luxury perks will appreciate what you get with the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. But if you prefer to keep things simple with a no-annual-fee credit card, the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is a great fit.

Japan Airlines Mileage Bank
Transfer ratio: 2:1.5 (1,000 Capital One miles = 750 JAL miles)
Special launch bonus: 30% transfer bonus through Oct. 22, 2025
Japan Airlines (JAL) is the most exciting new addition to Capital One’s list of transfer partners. Previously, JAL could only be accessed as a transfer partner through Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy, with Marriott offering a poor transfer ratio of 3:1. Now, Capital One cardholders have direct access to one of Asia’s premium airlines.
JAL is known for its exceptional service, making it a highly sought-after choice in the rewards travel space. The value of JAL miles is particularly evident in their award chart pricing for flights between many major cities in the U.S. and Japan.
Economy: 27,000 JAL miles one-way
Premium Economy: 40,000 JAL miles one-way
Business Class: 55,000 JAL miles one-way
First Class: 110,000-140,000 JAL miles one-way
With the current 30% transfer bonus, you’d need just 28,000 Capital One miles to book a one-way economy flight to Tokyo. That’s an incredible value that gives you a nearly 1:1 transfer rate. The taxes and fees for these awards aren’t insignificant. However, at these rock-bottom rates, paying $200+ in fees for an economy award is still a solid deal.
One important caveat is, new JAL Mileage Bank members must wait seven days before redeeming miles. Although that’s much shorter than the standard waiting period of 60 days. Regardless, it’s worth opening a JAL account immediately if you don’t have one.
JAL is also part of the Oneworld Alliance (with a separate award chart), so you can use these miles on American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and other partners, not just for flights on Japan Airlines.
Qatar Airways Privilege Club
Transfer ratio: 1:1 (1,000 Capital One miles = 1,000 Avios)
Qatar Airways operates one of the world’s best business class products, known as Qsuites. I had the chance to experience it on a flight from Doha to Paris last fall, and it truly lives up to the hype.
This new partnership is more about convenience than expanding options. Capital One cardholders could already access Qatar Airways awards by transferring to British Airways first, then moving those Avios to Qatar. This new partnership eliminates that extra step.
Qatar Airways operates on the Avios currency system, which British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, and several other airlines also use. You can transfer Avios between these programs at no additional cost, offering you a great deal of flexibility.
I Prefer Hotel Rewards
Transfer ratio: 1:2 (1,000 Capital One miles = 2,000 I Prefer points)
The I Prefer Hotel Rewards program is the loyalty program of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, which operates a collection of over 600 independent luxury properties across 80+ countries. Award nights start at 15,000 points but can go up to 150,000 points for premium properties. Keep in mind that you aren’t able to book award stays entirely with points at every hotel.
This partnership may have limited appeal for most cardholders; however, if you find the right redemption, you can still get excellent value. That said, Citi ThankYou points transfer to I Prefer at a much better 1:4 ratio. As a general rule of thumb, always calculate and compare both the cash price and the points redemption value before booking.

Bottom line
These additions make Capital One miles more valuable, especially for travelers interested in premium cabin flights to Asia. For example, you could earn the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card’s welcome bonus and have enough miles to book a one-way business-class flight from the U.S. to Japan.
My advice? If you don’t already have a JAL Mileage Bank account, open one as soon as possible. Even if you don’t have travel plans to Japan right now, having the account ready means you won’t face the seven-day waiting period when you want to transfer miles.
