'Pillar' of Stirling nursery celebrates 40 years of service

A member of staff at a Stirling nursery has been honoured to commemorate her remarkable 40th anniversary at the facility. Cowie Nursery marked four decades of unwavering commitment and devotion from long-serving early childhood education team member Gillian Tierney. August 19 represented 40 years since Gillian Tierney commenced her role at the nursery, shepherding countless generations of local youngsters through their formative learning years. Upon reaching this significant landmark, Gillian has now found herself caring for the great-grandchildren of pupils she previously nurtured, supported and guided. Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area. Vicki Porter, Acting Head of Cowie Nursery stated: “We celebrate a wonderful person who has achieved 40 years of service to this community. Gillian Tierney is a loved and recognised pillar of our nursery, an asset to the children and families and a wonderful individual who has dedicated her life’s work to working in Cowie Nursery. “Congratulations and thanks to Gill for all her work and devotion to Cowie Nursery, we are truly blessed to have you.” Social Work and Education Convener, Cllr Danny Gibson remarked: “Gillian has been an integral part of Cowie Nursery over the years. The level of affection shown by her colleagues and the local community in Cowie is testament to the regard she is held in as a beloved figure within Cowie. “Congratulations and thank you for your efforts over the last four decades.”
