A teenage boy has denied an allegation of robbery in Middleton . The 15 year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Manchester Youth Court today (October 1), sitting at Manchester Magistrates’ Court. The court heard that the charge relates to an alleged incident before the alleged murder of Devon Simmonds-Caines in July this year. No further details can be reported at this stage. The teen entered a not guilty plea, and a trial date has been set for March 25 next year, 2026, to be held at the youth court. Sign up to the MEN Court newsletter here During the 15 minute hearing prosecuting counsel Hannah Nicholls, defence counsel Catherine Baird and district judge Margaret McCormack discussed administration matters in relation to the trial. A case management date has been set for December 9 this year. Terrence King, 59, has been charged with the murder of 15 year-old Devon. The teenager died following a collision between an e-bike and a car on Rowrah Crescent, in Langley, at around 11.55am on July 22. Emergency services attended, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Join our Court and Crime WhatsApp group HERE Mr King appeared before a judge for a plea hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court on Tuesday morning, September 30. He entered a not guilty plea. A trial has been set for January 20, 2026, with a pre-trial review to take place on December 22 this year.
