Kroger, which operates nearly 2,700 stores across the United States, has announced an expansion of its partnership with DoorDash, giving customers nationwide access to fresh and affordable groceries in as little as an hour.
“Customers are looking for more convenient ways to shop at their local Kroger store, and delivery is an increasingly important way they engage with us,” Yael Cosset, executive vice president and chief digital officer for Kroger, noted in a press release. “Today marks another step in our journey to simplify customers’ lives.”
The expansion, which officially launches on Oct. 1, allows shoppers to access Kroger’s full grocery assortment, including fresh food and other everyday essentials. The two companies began collaborating in 2022, but prior to this expansion, a limited number of Kroger stores were available on DoorDash exclusively for ordering sushi or fresh flowers.
“This expansion brings customers access to Kroger’s full assortment across fresh food, household essentials, and its popular private-label brands, all at affordable prices and deals they already know and trust,” Prabir Adarkar, president and chief operating officer of DoorDash, noted in the press release. “It’s a milestone that reflects our shared commitment to giving households more choice, value, and convenience in how they shop for groceries.”
The release noted that the companies will also collaborate on joint innovation, beginning with retail media, insights for brand partners, and new delivery models that leverage Kroger’s store network and DoorDash’s technology.
