Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we will accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to obituaries@readingeagle.com.
In addition to the text of the obituary, any photographs that you wish to include can be attached to this email. Please put the text of the obituary in a Word document, a Google document or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include either the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service that is in charge of the deceased’s care or a photo of his/her death certificate. We also request that your full name, phone number and address are all included in this email.
All payments by families must be made with a credit card. We will send a proof of the completed obituary before we require payment. The obituary cannot run, however, until we receive payment in full.
Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.

2025 Temple Halloween Parade: Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., rain date Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. The procession begins at Muhlenberg Elementary Center, 610 Sharp Ave., Muhlenberg Township. It travels north on Kutztown Road and turns left onto Mt. Laurel Avenue.
Featuring more than 70 groups, the parade includes bands, car groups, fire companies, business floats, costumed groups of all sizes and youth organizations. It is presented by the Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation Department.
2025 Topton Halloween Parade: Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. It is presented by the Topton Community Outreach Club, TCOC.
2025 Spring Township Halloween Parade: Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., rain date Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The Spring Township Lions Club is hosting its 49th event.
Lineup begins at 6 p.m. at Hillvale Avenue.
2025 Mohnton Halloween Parade: Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. There is no rain date. Staging is in the Northridge Development and starts at Katie Lane and Sycamore Street. Parking is along East Wyomissing Avenue.
The Mohnton-Cumru Lions Club has been presenting the Great Pumpkin Parade since 1956.
Prizes are awarded in the following categories: walkers, float/dual group, musical group and other. Winners from the 2024 parade are available on the club’s website, https://www.mohntoncumrulions.com/.
2025 Boyertown Halloween Parade: Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., rain date Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
The event is hosted by Boyertown Historical Society. The first Halloween parade was held in 1912, according to the society.
2025 Douglassville/Amity Township Halloween Parade: The Daniel Boone Optimist Club Halloween Parade will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Amity recreation facilities on Lake Drive. Rain date is Oct. 22
Costume, group, float registration is from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Awards will be given out in eight categories before the parade steps off.
Participants should be at the parade starting point, the Daniel Boone High School parking lot, no later than 6 p.m.
2025 Birdsboro Halloween Parade: Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 30. It begins at Daniel Boone High School, 501 Chestnut St., Birdsboro, and is presented by the Rotary Club of Birdsboro.
There will be awards in eight different categories. Preregistration online is required to participate.
2025 King Frost Parade: Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in downtown Hamburg. The event is hosted by the Hamburg Jaycees. Registration for the 61st Annual King Frost Parade is available online.

2025 Orwigsburg Halloween Parade: Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.. Rain date is Oct. 23. It is hosted by the Orwigsburg Lions Club.
Line up begins at 5:30 p.m. on Margaret Avenue.
The parade route begins on Margaret Avenue and continues to North Warren Street, West Market Street, South Franklin Street, West Independence Street, South Warren Street and ends on East Market Street.
The 2025 Pottstown Halloween Parade has been canceled due to the cost of liability insurance.
