“I sum up it as ‘The record I always deserved to make,” Tomlinson says of his upcoming album in a press release. “My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music. I’m still learning and getting better as a singer and a songwriter. I find it impossible to be complacent; it’s not in my vocabulary. For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped to be.”

After One Direction announced its hiatus in 2015, Tomlinson released a pair of solo albums, 2020’s Walls and 2022’s Faith in the Future, which both made the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. For his third album, Tomlinson once again teamed up with producer Nico Rebscher (Aurora, Zoe Wees), and traveled to Santa Teresa in Costa Rica for inspiration in early 2025.

The release of “Lemonade” precedes Away From Home, the annual festival curated by Tomlinson that will be held in the U.S. for the first time this weekend. The independent fest will head to Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y. on Oct. 4 and 5, and feature headlining performances by Tomlinson and Lauv, along with sets by Plain White T’s, Daya, Pale Waves and “special guest” Steve Aoki (who worked with Tomlinson on the 2016 collaboration “Just Hold On”), among others.

“I’m so excited to be bringing Away From Home to the U.S., and for the first time, a two-day festival!” Tomlinson says. “Really honored and grateful to have such a strong lineup over both days, got a few things up my sleeve too. Can’t wait to see you all there, it’s going to be special!”
