The Namma Metro has received all six coaches of the fifth trainset for the Yellow Line. A Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official said that the coaches reached the Hebbagodi depot late on Sunday night, followed by the remaining three around Monday midnight, according to a Deccan Herald report. The Bengal-based Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) dispatched the coaches on trailers on the morning of September 19. Just like the fourth trainset, the fifth trainset is also made in India, and is expected to slash the frequency of train operations. When will the operations begin? The operations of the fifth trainset are expected to enter passenger service in mid-October after passing the mandatory testing. “The trainset must undergo various kinds of tests, including system integration with signalling, telecommunications, and power supply networks,” a senior BMRCL official said, according to The Hindu. Bengaluru Yellow Line Metro The Yellow Line stretches over an 18.82 km corridor, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the line on August 10, following which the operations began. The yellow line metro connects southern neighbourhoods and Electronics City to the metro network. However, commuters used to face difficulty due to the long waiting time for the metro. Initially, only three trains were available during the inauguration, which led to 25 minutes of waiting time during peak hours. Later, it improved with the launch of the fourth trainset, reducing waiting time to 19-20 minutes. According to the officials, the launch of the fifth trainset will further ease congestion and overcrowding at the metro station, making it easier for commuters to travel during peak hours.
