Navaratri is more than just an auspicious festival; it’s about childhood memories, festive foods, family traditions, and spiritual beliefs. Actor Pratibha Ranta feels the same. She shared, “Navratri is about blessings, new beginnings, and the power of the goddess. Every year, it gives me strength to move forward – both personally and professionally.”
From cherishing childhood Navaratri memories in Shimla to experiencing Mumbai’s vibrant garba nights, Pratibha now reflects on her special bond with the festival.
Pratibha Ranta Enjoys Mumbai’s Navaratri Celebration
The actress revealed that moving to Mumbai helped her experience a whole new side of the festival: the vibrant traditions of garba and dandiya.
She shared, “In Shimla, dandiya wasn’t really a thing. It was so new to me when I came here. I saw people passionately dressing up, taking classes and even having different outfits for each night. One of my friends’ families, who are Gujaratis, does that, and it was such a beautiful cultural difference for me to witness. I would join my friends, go play, and even if I ended up sweaty and tired, it was always fun.”
She added, “Whoever comes to Mumbai becomes a fan of this festival. You witness it here and you can’t help but fall in love with it – the energy, the culture, the togetherness.”
Pratibha Ranta Recalls Childhood Memories Of Navaratri
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Pratibha fondly recalled her childhood Navaratri memories, saying, “Navratri really takes me back to my childhood. I would eagerly wait for it because I’d go to people’s houses, enjoy delicious food, and receive gifts and money. By the end of Navratri, I’d sit and count how much I made and feel so rich—even if it was just Rs500, it meant the world to me.”
Sharing another memory from her childhood in Shimla, she added, “There was this one house I would visit for 10–15 years, and even after I hit puberty, they would still invite me. It made me feel so special. People were just so nice.”
Reflecting on the simplicity of those days, Pratibha shared, “The Bhandara, the langar, the prasad during these days was something we all looked forward to.”
Pratibha Ranta: ‘Navaratri Has Always Been An Auspicious Time’
Growing up in an aspirational family, Navratri has always been a festival of deeper significance for her. She added, “I come from a very spiritual family, so it has always been an auspicious time for us – for new beginnings, new prayers, and blessings. If I want to start something new, I wait for this time because I know I’ll have all the blessings around me. Worshipping goddesses has always been central in my life, especially since my parents raised three daughters and strongly believe in goddess energy.” grammar.
For Pratibha, Navratri is all about celebrating new beginnings, starting fresh ventures, and embracing positivity. This year too, she hopes something special is on the horizon.
