BANZ town, heart of North Waghi district in Jiwaka Province was packed to capacity as people from the district and other side of Waghi River in South Waghi flocked to attend the mini-independence celebration.

The mini pre independence celebration hosted by North Waghi DDA is held in the heart of Banz town at the old Catholic coffee uprooted and fenced.

The mini event started last Friday continued over the weekend and will end tomorrow after the 50th independence celebration.

The organising committees invited entertainment groups from border to border to participate in the independence celebration.

The independence is celebrated peacefully, despite the heat of the sun the people are braving the heat to participate in the mini celebration.

Over 50 entertaining groups performed to entertain the crowds.
