Former Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has praised Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the most impactful Vice-President in Ghana’s history during his tenure.
In an exclusive interview on the sidelines of Dr Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Central Region with GhanaWeb, Asiamah said the former Vice-President’s tenure was distinguished by a range of transformative policy initiatives that have had real and lasting effects on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
He highlighted several key achievements under Bawumia’s vice-presidency, including the rollout of the One Constituency, One Ambulance program, the implementation of Agenda 111 for hospital infrastructure, and the adoption of the Digital Address System.
According to Asiamah, these initiatives—along with efforts to digitize public services such as passport and driver’s licensing, mobile money interoperability, and the use of drones for medical deliveries—reflect Bawumia’s commitment to modernizing Ghana’s governance and social services.
Asiamah further emphasized that Bawumia’s leadership was not simply about proposals but about seeing ideas through to implementation.
He noted that Bawumia’s record shows how innovation, when coupled with execution, can yield benefits across multiple sectors, including health, citizen service delivery and infrastructure.

These remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and among political observers about who best represents effective leadership in Ghana’s recent political history.
For Asiamah, Bawumia’s performance as Vice-President sets a benchmark for what the office can achieve when vision, policy and delivery align.
