Filmmaker Rahul Rawail has expressed anger over Donald Trump’s announcement that the US would impose a 100% tariff on all films produced overseas. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump had stated that international productions have impacted US’ film industry. Rawail, known for directing hit like Betaab, Anjaam, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Jo Bole So Nihaal, shared with Zoom, what he feels about the Trump’s stand that could disrupt Hollywood’s worldwide business model. Rahul Rawail slams Donald Trump In an exclusive chat, Rawal told us, “This is sick. There’s something wrong with this man. There’s something wrong with Trump. He’s just targeting India. He can do what he likes, but we have to admit that the international position of India is huge, and that’ll only keep increasing. Every day he’s creating some problem or another, especially for India with these tariffs. He wanted to say that he sorted out the problem between India and Pakistan. But, Mr Modi said no, because he did nothing like that. If he thinks he’s going to stop Indian films from coming to the US, he can’t do that. I know India will fight it out.” Challenge for Indian filmmakers Rawail opined that many in the US would be unhappy too. “Somewhere, I feel people in America, who are highly attuned with Indian films and Indian goods are not going to be happy with what he’s saying. They should not be happy as well,” the filmmaker shared. People are going to find another location. See, creativity doesn’t stop because of one person’s stupidity or something. Creative person always has alternatives. I don’t think what Trump said will have any consequences,” Rawail stated.
