The controversial Kyle and Jackie O radio show has breached decency standards, Australia’s media watchdog has ruled, with programs branded “vulgar, sexually explicit and deeply offensive”.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority investigated the hugely popular show hosted by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson for content aired between August and December 2024, finding breaches for shows that included bizarre urination guessing games and discussions about masturbation and pornography.
“The Kyle and Jackie O Show has repeatedly and deliberately aired content that is vulgar, sexually explicit and deeply offensive,” ACMA chair Nerida O’Loughlin said on Wednesday.
“Even after previous breaches and the employment of additional censors required by the ACMA, the program continues to broadcast content that is unacceptable to the community.”

ACMA found three breaches of decency rules by Melbourne licensee KIIS 101.1 and four breaches for Sydney licensee KIIS 106.5.
The watchdog highlighted two episodes of a guessing game that featured audio clips of male and female staff members urinating.
The hosts then had to try to guess which audio clip belonged to which staff member.
“Both episodes included comments about the genitals of participants and in the female staff member episode graphic comments about menstruation and oral sex,” ACMA said in a statement.
Further, the watchdog flagged a game where a contestant provided a description of a sexual position and a segment that contained “lewd discussions” about masturbation and pornography websites.

The Kyle and Jackie O Show airs on the KIIS Network and is hugely popular draw, regularly taking out top spot in listener numbers.
ASX-listed ARN Media owns the KIIS Network.
ACMA also hit out at ARN and said the company appeared “unwilling or unable to rein in these presenters”.
“As a result, ACMA is currently considering enforcement actions so that ARN takes full responsibility for the content broadcast on their stations,” Ms O’Loughlin said.
ARN has been contacted for comment.
