Golf Fans All Say the Same Thing as Ryder Cup Collapses to a Shocking Historic Low

For a golf fan, the last weekend was meant to be a solace from the hustle of everyday life. Golf’s biggest stage was set up at Bethpage Black, and Team US looked all set to steamroll the Europeans. But what happened in those three days was definitely not on anyone’s bingo card. The Ryder Cup was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The US suffered a shameful loss on its home turf, and the coverage of the event was disappointing. Now, fans have taken over the internet to express their sharp thoughts.
A post by NUCLR Golf shared data by SBJ journalist Josh Carpentar on their X account, which says, “The Ryder Cup experienced its lowest viewership in over 25 years this past Sunday, averaging 3.22M viewers on NBC, per @JoshACarpenter. For comparison, in 202,1, viewership averaged 3.51M on Sunday at Whistling Straits. What do you think is the reason for the decline?”
The reply to these posts saw several comments with users sharing their own personal reasons as to why they did not tune in to watch the games. Some of them are:
“Europe being so far ahead going into Sunday and@NBCSports with non stop commercials I would assume. worst coverage of any sporting event I’ve ever seen. and that’s not an exaggeration NBC. 😡”
“Erm I dunno, maybe the home team having their a*ses handed to them 7 points down”
“It’s simple USA sucked, why waste time watching professionals playing like weekend high handicappers.”
“Sky Sports had 8.8m highest ever for them and that’s a paid for network 💪💪”
