Starbucks has closed its store at 1603-A Battleground Ave. in Greensboro as part of a national restructuring plan expected to reduce its number of total stores by about 1% by the end of the fiscal year.
The store at 1603-A Battleground is the only Triad store affected by the restructuring. But closings were announced in a handful of other N.C. cities, including Charlotte, Raleigh and Durham.
Greensboro still has about two dozen Starbucks locations, including those inside such stores as Harris Teeter and Target.
In a statement, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said that during a review. “We identified coffeehouses where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed.”
The closings are expected to leave Starbucks with about 18,300 stores in the United States and Canada at the end of the fiscal year.
