Kevin Vaz, CEO – Entertainment at JioStar India, has been re-elected President of the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF) at its 26th Annual General Meeting. Rajat Sharma (India TV), Gaurav Banerjee (Sony Pictures) and R. Mahesh Kumar (Sun Network) were named Vice Presidents, with I. Venkat (Eenadu TV) continuing as Treasurer.Addressing members in his first AGM as President, Vaz highlighted the resilience of linear television. “Television remains the bedrock of content creation and brand building in India,” he said, pointing out that 97% of India’s original content, nearly 200,000 hours in 2024, was produced for TV, which drew 46 trillion minutes of annual viewing across 190 million screens.He added that festive demand and GST reforms would fuel an advertising revival and that television’s future lies in combining scale and trust with digital reach. IBDF, he said, will continue to push for a stable regulatory regime to support long-term growth.At its AGM, the IBDF announced the appointment of media veteran Avinash Pandey as Secretary General from October 1, succeeding Siddharth Jain. Members acknowledged Jain’s contribution and welcomed Pandey, who said his focus would be on strengthening IBDF’s advocacy role and government engagement.The meeting saw the re-election of Gaurav Banerjee and R. Mahesh Kumar to the IBDF Board, with Anil Kumar Singhvi (Zee Media) joining as a new director. Sumanta Bose (JioStar), John Brittas (Kairali TV) and Nachiket Pantvaidya (Culver Max) were co-opted.Live EventsThe Board also comprises Aroon Purie (TV Today Network), Gaurav Dwivedi (Prasar Bharati), Jayant Mathew (MMTV) and Punit Goenka (Zee Entertainment).The AGM was attended by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Additional Secretary Prabhat, who interacted with broadcasters at a luncheon hosted by IBDF.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
