“Highmark Stadium will transform into a blizzard of white as the Bills have officially announced a full-stadium White Out for the primetime matchup,” writes Alec White of BuffaloBills.com. “To match the moment, the team will take the field in their wintery all-white ‘Cold Front’ Rivalries uniforms for the first time, creating a unified look with the fans in the stands.”
Additionally, the Wegmans Supermarket chain will be providing all-white rally towels for fans in attendance at the game, and selling limited edition long sleeve shirts and an exclusive ‘Bring the Storm’ ice cream flavor this week at various Western New York locations.
Bills Looks to Continue Recent Run of Dominance over Patriots
Following Tom Brady’s departure from New England at the conclusion of the 2019 NFL season, there was a void atop the AFC East that was immediately filled by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Since the 2020 season, the Bills have run roughshod over their AFC East counterparts, accumulating a 26-6 record in the division and cruising to five consecutive division titles.
In that time, the Bills are 5-1 versus the Patriots in games played at Highmark Stadium. That includes a 47-17 victory over New England in the 2021 Playoffs, a game which Buffalo scored touchdowns on every offensive possession except for their final possession of the game, which ended in victory formation.
If Buffalo improves that record to 6-1 on Sunday night, they’ll take a commanding three game lead in the AFC East and already have wins secured over New England, Miami and New York. In other words, the race for the division title will, for all intents and purposes, be wrapped up even before there’s a threat of a true white out in Buffalo.
If there’s any hope that New England can soon make this rivalry competitive, it will be because young quarterback Drake Maye follows a similar career trajectory to Josh Allen.
For various reasons, everyone seems to be eager to compare Drake Maye to Josh Allen… a steep ask for a kid who has started just 16 games in the NFL. But comparisons aside, Maye does have a fan in the Buffalo Bills superstar.
“I think Drake is super talented, he’s one of my favorite young quarterbacks in the league,”
Josh Allen said during a June interview with Sports Illustrated’s Liam McKeone. “I’ve spent some time around him and he’s got his head on his shoulders the right way. He just does things the right way. I think that he exemplifies football.”
