UB 'cautiously optimistic' for QB Ta’Quan Roberson's return

University at Buffalo quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson was still considered “probable” to play this weekend, coach Pete Lembo said at his presser Tuesday afternoon.
Roberson was limited in practice Tuesday. With the protective boot on Roberson’s left foot gone, he performed individual workouts and shared snaps with Gunnar Gray and Jason Wright.
Following a 20-17 loss to UConn on Saturday, Lembo originally said Roberson was probable to play against Eastern Michigan on Oct. 4. Lembo reiterated that statement following Tuesday morning’s practice, saying he was “cautiously optimistic” about Roberson’s chances to play this weekend.
“(Roberson) did a very limited amount today. Moved around a little bit. We’ll see where he’s at by Thursday,” Lembo said. “Thursday is sort of a critical juncture, as far as I’m concerned.”
Two weeks ago, Roberson exited UB’s loss to Troy with a leg injury. He wore a boot during practice last week and did not play against UConn. Gray started in his place. Wright handled some snaps, as well.
UB (2-3, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) hosts Eastern Michigan (1-4, 0-1) in a MAC contest at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at UB Stadium in Amherst.
