HENDERSON, Nev. — Former South Carolina star A’ja Wilson was named one of five finalists for WNBA MVP, putting the Las Vegas Aces star in potential position to become the league’s first four-time winner.
The other finalists were Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray, Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas. Gray’s final collegiate season was the 2016-17 season as a teammate of Wilson on the national championship-winning team.
The award, voted by a media panel, will be announced Sunday.

Gray had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Atlanta.

Herro is expected to be out for eight weeks, though a more exact return-to-play plan likely won’t be finalized until he begins rehabilitation and gets through the surgery.
HOUSTON — The Houston Astros activated infielder Isaac Paredes off the injured list and placed left fielder Yordan Alvarez on the 10-day injured list prior to their series opener against the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
